Golden Hour Running Campaign
A self-initiated shoot at SF Track Night, built to move beyond typical race-day documentation. The goal: branded, campaign-ready imagery — the kind a running brand's own marketing team might commission.
Behind the Shoot
THE CHALLENGE — No client, no brief — just SF Track Night's Tracksmith 5000 at Kezar Stadium, and a bet that the night could be turned into something a running brand's own marketing team might actually commission, rather than typical race-day documentation.
THE PLAN — Timing the session around golden hour specifically, and working with a longer lens on a monopod to compress the track and isolate runners the way a campaign shoot would. The bigger call was restraint — not documenting everything happening at the event, but picking a handful of moments that could stand alone as campaign-ready images.
THE RESULT — Product shots of apparel and shoes, close-ups in action, backlit by that golden light — the kind of images a running brand's own marketing team could actually use in a launch. That meant passing on plenty of real, interesting moments in favor of the few that looked image-ready rather than candid.
